Every Era Has Its Own Yazid
ہر دور کا یزید مختلف ہوتا ہے
Every era has its own Yazid. Muharram is not only about remembering history. It is also about recognizing the forms of injustice, arrogance, corruption, and moral blindness that appear in every age.
Karbala teaches that truth and falsehood are not always easy to identify by appearance. Sometimes falsehood has power, numbers, wealth, and public influence. Truth may appear weak, small, and isolated. But the value of truth is not measured by numbers.
The Qur’an says: “Do not incline toward those who do wrong, lest the Fire touch you.” Surah Hud 11:113. This verse reminds us that neutrality in the face of injustice is not always innocence.
The message of Imam Hussainؑ is a call to conscience, dignity, and moral courage.
Reflection question: Do I recognize injustice only in history, or also in my own time?
